Children who end up living on the streets often have their childhood taken away too early. Moments of laughter, safety, and care are replaced by experiences of violence, rejection, and neglect. Ciloto is a place where these boys can feel safe again — and begin to dream.

For us, care means much more than providing food, clothing, and a place to sleep. It is essential that the boys also receive attention, understanding, and guidance from caring adults. We take time to talk with them, listen to their stories, and, when needed, provide professional psychological support.

At Ciloto, we help the boys learn how to care for themselves and their surroundings. They attend school, wash their own clothes, and take responsibility for their living space. At the same time, they learn the value of work by helping in the fields — planting and harvesting soya, maize, and vegetables.

Equally important are moments of joy, celebration, and rest. From time to time, we go on trips to a nearby lake, where the boys can swim, fish, sing, and dance. We celebrate Christmas, Easter, Zambia’s Independence Day, and each boy’s birthday. Once a month, we also celebrate the birthdays of all boys and guardians born in that month — with music, sweets, gifts, and plenty of laughter.

These moments create what every child deserves: a time of joy, belonging, and carefree childhood.

Help us provide love, support, and a safe home for boys.
