The future of children we meet on the street is not bright. Abandoned and vulnerable, facing discrimination and being stigmatized by society, which views them as delinquents or as a burden. Entangled in street gangs, muggings, drug and alcohol addictions, focused on surviving. Their life anticipation is extremely low. Just to get through the day. Somehow.
They have often given up hope of attending and finishing school, not even mention living a dignified, successful life. We want to give them back that hope and assure that they do not need to follow the path leading to destruction. The path their relatives have chosen to follow or, in many cases, life have forced them to follow. As we all know – every child deserves a chance to dream, grow, and succeed, and it is our collective responsibility to make that a reality – but for many of our young friends living on the streets, it is a privilege, not a right. We believe that by working together on long-term solutions such as education, legal protection, counseling, psychological, spiritual and community support, we can help these children cope with their past and help them build resilience. We believe that by our accompaniment they can start a new journey – without addiction and running away. A journey to a brighter, better future.
